 SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

S. S. Lootah has played a prominent role in the education sector in Dubai.Haji Saeed Ahmed Lootah established the first Islamic school in Dubai with a 15 year curriculum.  The school was set up after a great deal of discussion of the concept with educational experts.  Several generations have passed out from the school up to now.

Located next to the Islamic school is a technical institute providing practical training in electronics, refrigeration, air-conditioning, and electrical, and automotive trades.  Furthermore, carpentry, silver and goldsmith and fiberglass works are the other trades taught at this center.

The Islamic School and the Technical Institute were part of a more comprehensive educational programme envisioned by Haji Saeed Ahmed Lootah.  The Dubai Medical College for Women was a brilliant masterstroke of planning.  By establishing this college Haj Seed fulfilled the community’s need for efficient women doctors and provided a modern educational institute for girls alongside the one for Islamic education.

 Medical College

Dubai Medical College was officially opened in 1988 under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Rahid Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the Minister of Finance and Industry.  Girl registered at the college are required to have high grades in their secondary school exams with an average of 80 per cent.  The ministry of higher education, under resolution no 65 of 1996, equated the college’s bachelor of medicine degree with the First Grade at the UAE University’s Medicine and Surgery Department.  Some of the graduates of this college are now enrolled at the Department of Health and Medical Services while others are pursuing higher studies at international universities.

Another avenue for higher education for women was provided by the Pharmacy College, set up by Haj Saeed Lootah in 1992.

The Arab Pharmaceutical Conference held in Rabbat, Morocco in 1993 expressed its appreciation for the syllabus of the college, which offers a shortened four-year course, without reducing study hours or holidays.  The syllabus imparts modern education in pharmacy.  The Lootah Educational Institutes are linked with the Internet, liaise with international universities, and research centers in providing quality education to its alumni .
