Solid Waste Treatment
Another first for the Gulf region is
the solid waste treatment plant proposed to be set up for Dubai Municipality.
This plant will be processing all the solid waste generated by the city
to produce high quality compost and an environment safe residue as landfill. S.S. Lootah International through its
venture with TUV Rheinland of Germany have got together with two German
companies, Interplan Environment Systems GmbH, ARCADIS Trischler and Partner
GmbHand Horstmann Fordertechnik GmbH to form a joint venture. These companies have a well-established track record in
designing, commissioning and operating similar plants in Germany and
elsewhere. The Lootah joint venture company is
working on a 20 year build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis. During the 20 years, the Lootah company will be earning its
income from the sale of high grade organic fertilser (compost) produced from
the plant.” Its output of 200,000 tons of fertilizer caters for less than
half the 600,000 tons being imported every year,” Danesh added.
The Dhs 120 million plant thus has a built-in payback, while at the same
time solving the ever-growing problem of waste disposal that seems
insurmountable with the current systems. |

and is in the process of assessing several other organizations seeking the
certification. All the main companies under the Lootah Group are currently working on Quality Certification Plan that should be fully in place by end of this year. High-rise technology High-rise building technology is a
specialized field that few companies around the world have. The Lootah Group have got into a joint venture with Bouygues
of France to provide this technology and re in the process of lining up works.
The joint venture set up for this purpose was successful in the bid for
the Sharjah World Trade Centre, a masterpiece of modern times, the
construction however, has been delayed pending resolution of the financial
consideration by the client, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (
SCCI). Apart from lining up joint venture tie-ups the International Division is often called upon by the group companies to assist with expertise in specialized fields. Given the vast network of international contacts built up by the division, this is a routine ongoing activity that has been instrumental in providing solution for various problematic opportunities.
